Q1 round up

One a quarter is better than none at all right? This is also 3 weeks after the end of Q1; life is busy, co-parenting and working full time is a whole thing, along with trying to exercise and see friends. I am loving it, life is sweet, cracked open in a new way. All the change of new job, new life in January was a shock initially (I couldn’t sleep from January to March) but as my friend and I (hi Lyd, don’t think she reads these) have shouted at each other many times in 2024 already: IT’S GROWTH SEASON.

Read:

  1. Raise Your SQ by Annie Ridout - Accessible spirituality to start the year.

  2. The Bee Sting by Paul Murray - Incredible twisting, turning novel.

  3. What I talk about when I talk about running by Haruki Murakami

  4. The Pivot Year by Brianna Wiest (AB) My babe!

  5. The Chronology of Water by Lidia Yuknavitch

  6. Relationships: Learning to Love by The School of Life

  7. Standard Deviation by Katherine Heiny

  8. This Love by Lotte Jeffs (AB)

  9. Neon Roses by Rachel Dawson - Queer love in the 80’s, activism and joy.

  10. Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner - All the Korean food, the music, grief.

  11. Seven Days in June by Tia Williams

  12. The Paper Palace by Miranda Cowley Heller

  13. Twelve Moons by Caro Giles

  14. The Salt Path by Raynor Winn

  15. We Can Be Heroes by Paul Burston

  16. Wandering Souls by Cecile Pin

The four I have bolded are the ones I have enjoyed the most so far. I have returned to two of my favourite books as well, The Salt Path and The Paper Palace, like seeing old friends, so comforting and easy to read. Just what was needed in the middle of the night when I couldn’t sleep.

I have also seen some great films, All Of Us Strangers, Wicked Little Letters, Blue is the Warmest Colour and Past Lives. Olivia Coleman and her dirty mouth is my favourite.

Did you love One Day? I loved the music. I have been re-watching Euphoria since Angus Cloud’s death, still one of the saddest celebrity deaths I have ever heard of, :(
