october round up
I have been head down working with some lovely projects; two websites, some brochures and one branding project on top of my contract work. It’s been mad but my hours are reducing as of next week and I will be able to concentrate on a few new bits of my business. Also I will get to squidge my kids a bit more after school.
What I Read This Month
1. The Island Home Libby Page
2. The Flamethrowers by Rachel Kushner
3. The Salt Path by Raynor Winn
4. One, Two, Three by Laurie Frankel
I re-read my favourite book this month, The Salt Path. Because of how busy with work I have been I have felt really disconnected with nature and this book is so absolutely raw and honest and has really helped me to drill down on what I feel is the core of what I care about in life. If you haven’t read it and you love nature and people’s stories, oh and Cornwall then read it!
I adored Laurie Frankel’s previous book. It was generous and warm and important. This book hits all the same adjectives, the narrative lost me a bit at times but the heart and issues of the book are gorgeous and equally as important and I will read anything she writes.
MONTHLY FAVOURITES
Watched… Maid. Ah I binge watched this in two days! It is so beautifully acted, shot and done. Can’t wait to see what Margaret Qualley does next.
Listened… Ram Dass on his podcast Be Here Now. What a unique and wonderful human Ram Dass was. He had all the answers. I just feel so close to something when I listen to him; consciousness, truth, the undercurrents of life which can go unnoticed unless you re-focus every now and then. He also speaks of the ego and his experience with acid. Highly recommend.
Turned Up to… As part of the Brighton Digital Festival Unspoken Stories did a wonderful talk with these women. Sign up for the next one.
