november round up

November, where did you go? I have been consuming so much audio this past month, Miriam Margoyles’ book, This Much I Know Is True as well as the Adam Buxton Ramble Book. Both hilarious, brilliant humans.

What I Read This Month

1. Magpie by Elizabeth Day
2. No One Is Talking About This by Patricia Lockwood
3. The Distance Between Us by Maggie O’Farrell
4. Animal by Lisa Taddeo

Ah I was hoping for the Maggie O’Farrell book to be a replica of Hamnet which I loved with all my heart this year, instead I wasn’t really gripped by this book at all. HOWEVER Lisa Taddeo has written another brilliant book, from the second I picked it up I could not put it down. The way she writes I feel everything with her. I felt the same about Three Women, what a strong female voice.

MONTHLY FAVOURITES

Watched… In my Skin. I enjoyed this series so much I watched both series in about 2 days. This is what TV needs; young, funny authentic writers. The Welsh banter was so funny and lovely but it was gritty and dark too.

Listened… Family Secrets podcast with Dani Shapiro. I love this podcast it is full of family stories and secrets which are all real and absolutely fascinating. It was started because Dani found out, after her father had died that he wasn’t her father by doing one of those super quick DNA tests, the repercussions have lead to a book and a podcast and a telling of soooo many stories. And what is better and more fascinating than human’s true life, crazy family stories. I know there are more than a few in my family.

Turned Up Online for… My design guru Chelsea from Honey & Co Creative did an online talk named The Anatomy Of A Sticky Brand and it was fascinating and brilliant and obvious and I did a lot of head nodding.
