march round up
Wow, ok. Covid-19. We have been indoors for over 3 weeks now. We have discovered a whole new way of living. It still includes nature, it still includes connection but instead of the structure of school/work/life we are going for a walk a day out in the open space of the downs and then doing all the connecting from home. Zoom yoga, Houseparty group chats with my family and friends, Zoom book club! It’s heartbreaking watching the NHS deal with everything they are going through. It is a crazy time to be alive.
What I Read This Month
1. The Outrun by Amy Liptrot
2. Freelance Mum by Annie Ridout
3. My Wild & Sleepless Nights Clover Stroud
4. Lanny by Max Porter
5. How To Fail by Elizabeth Day
I really won in the book stakes this month. These are all winners! 4 out of 5 are non fiction, which is unusual for me but Amy Liptrot, Annie Ridout, Clover Stroud and Elizabeth Day, these are all such strong female voices. They talk about fascinating topics; nature, wild swimming, alcoholism, business, motherhood, sex, freelance work, life, failure, IVF, education, families. Inspiring me constantly.
MONTHLY FAVOURITES
Went to… Kickass Women’s Future of Womenhood 2.0 event at Platf9rm. It was very thought provoking. It made me realise it’s time to step into my creativity and get some confidence in what I do. This might have a long run up now that we are in lockdown, but my brain is processing the female power from this event.
Listened to… Dying for Sex podcast. Oh my god, this podcast is unreal! Marriages, boyfriends, sexual awakening, cancer… Quite the combination.
I have also been buoyed by the How To Fail Mo Gadat podcast. Luna is listening to the David Walliams Elevenses audio book every day, they are brilliant. Some are so utterly revolting that they make you wretch whilst laughing!
Also this song by Tom Rosenthal’s daughter Fenn, it is SO ADORABLE.
